Traci Lords - He's My Bitch : Single & Remixes pReview

The Traci Lords' assault to dance music is unstoppable as a 2nd single proves she's here to stay!

Originally part of the M2F2 Compilation Album, He's My Bitch would want to replicate if not surpass the 2011 club chart success of it's predecessor Last Drag. Produced by The House Rejects and featuring Brian Lucas, the future Dance Club Play #1 is a fun floor-filler guaranteed to make your clubbing nights extra campy.

The move to progressive house tunes proved effective for Traci, who initially tried alternative rock (Little Baby Nothing) and techno-rave during the mid '90s, as her recent outputs get more mainstream club success. While Last Drag could pass-off as Dance-Pop, HMB is undeniably EDM. On the song, melodic singing is absent all throughout, but Traci's enthusiastic chorus chanting makes up for that lack: "He's my bitch! He's my bitch! God I'm sweatin' hard thinkin' of this. Thinking I'm scratch his itch coz he's rich..."  It felt like Give Me All Your Luvin' or some random Avril Lavigne moment all of a sudden; but hey, this brilliance is beyond comparison! Traci goes on to speak about her who's-its-and what's-its-galore by mentioning designer brands she adores: Louboutins, Dior, Jimmy Choo, Jason Wu, Balenciaga, McQueen and Prada. A whole lot more signature names could be added to lengthen the stanza actually, but HMB is NOT (!) another Fashionista anthem so there. Brian Lucas adds his own spoken vocals to complement Traci's making up all that there is lyrically. Quite condensed on the vocal side but rousingly unabridged on overall production, the single is alternatively very well put. Besides, a dance track isn't mandated to follow the usual pop-song structure so all irregularities and your should-have-beens are insignificant. Bee-atch..! HMB is a must-play on every club.

Vocals: 0.5, Production: 2, Lyrics: 1, Chorus Strength: 2, Mainstream Appeal: 1 = (6.5/10)

Though the original mix could hold by it's own, the remixes of He's My Bitch done by Sea To Sun resident Ron Reeser and Reality Engine/Luis Campos took the song to another level.

Currently # 39 on the Billboard Dance Club Play Charts, He's My Bitch is set to jump higher soon and must end up at # 1 for all it's worth! Traci is well handled by her label Sea To Sun Recordings and should see more releases this year. If my suggestion counts, Pretty will be a good 3rd single before a full album gets to us.
